Every once in a while I get asked how to download the files for the plans, supporting documents, and movies that are included with your purchase of the Warre Hive Construction Guide 2.0. I put together these instructions and screenshots to hopefully guide you through the process.
Your Download Page
Each customer has their own personal download page that is emailed to them once payment clears. Without this email you can't download the plans. There is a personal download link in that email that you will have to follow to get to the download page.
Download The Files
Once your on the download page scroll past the pictures to the series of blue or purple links, this is where you will download your plans. Right click on the top link (Construction Guide and Frame Plans) and choose "Save Link As" from the menu as in this picture:
After selecting "Save Link As" you will see a new window, this window is asking where to save your files to. I always choose "Desktop" so that the download is very easy to find then click on the "Save" button. Here's the screenshot for this window:
Un-Zip Your Downloaded Files
There are a number of programs out there that will unzip files for you but Windows has had the ability to open Zip files since Windows XP. Since I have no way of knowing what you might have installed on your computer I'm going to show you how to do it with the tools that are included with a basic installation of Windows.
Once the download is complete you will have the zipped file on your Desktop. Minimize any windows you may have up and you'll see the new file in the upper left hand corner of your screen. The next step is to right click on the file and hover the cursor over "Open With" which gives you a new menu. From that menu choose "Windows Explorer" Here's the screenshot:
You should now see a new window with the contents of the zipped file. Right click on the folder that is there and choose "Copy" from the menu:
Minimize any windows you may have open so that you can see your desktop. In an open area of the desktop right click your mouse again and choose "Paste" from the menu. What this does is take all of the files out of the zipped file and unzip them onto your desktop:
You now have a folder on your desktop containing files. Double click this folder that you just pasted and you'll see the files inside:
In this example the Construction Guide is at the top of the list then the Half Frame Plans and finally a Read Me file. Double click on the Construction Guide and it should open in a window that looks like this:
That's it! Your now looking at the Construction Guide. You've downloaded, unzipped, and are now viewing it. Now go back and do this for each of the links on your download page. It may seem like a lot of work but once you've performed the steps above a couple of times you'll see that it only takes 30 seconds or so to run through it.
Printing Your Plans
Once you have any of the documents open as in the last screenshot, all you have to do is choose "File" then "Print" and it should print automatically for you.
